How it works
- Drop your RAW file. CR2, CR3, NEF, ARW, RAF, DNG, RW2, ORF, PEF and SRW are recognized by their file signature, whatever the extension says.
- It develops in the editor. One click hands the file to the free everyimg Studio editor, which runs a real RAW developer (LibRaw) on your device — you see the embedded preview instantly and the fully developed image seconds later.
- Export as JPG. In the editor, hit Export and choose JPG (pick the quality there). You can crop, straighten or adjust colors first — or export straight away.
A camera RAW file is not an image — it is sensor data waiting to be developed. That is why your browser, office software and most upload forms cannot show a CR2 or NEF. To get a JPG, the file has to run through an actual RAW developer, and everyimg Studio ships one: LibRaw, compiled to WebAssembly, running on your device inside the free editor.
The flow is deliberately transparent about where the work happens: you drop the RAW here, and one click opens it in the editor, which shows the embedded camera preview immediately and replaces it with the fully developed image in a few seconds. From there, Export → JPG gives you the finished file — full resolution, quality of your choice, and optionally with crops, color adjustments or filters applied first.
Nothing is uploaded at any point. The RAW bytes move from the landing page to the editor through the browser’s own private storage on your machine, and your original file is never modified — RAW handling is strictly read-only.
Frequently asked questions
Why does this converter open the editor instead of converting on this page?
Honest answer: developing RAW takes a multi-threaded WebAssembly build of LibRaw, and browsers only allow those threads in a specially isolated context — which our editor is and this landing page is not. So instead of a fake "converting…" spinner, the page hands your file directly to the editor where the real development runs. It is one extra click, not an upload.
Which RAW formats are supported?
Canon CR2 and CR3, Nikon NEF, Sony ARW, Fujifilm RAF, Panasonic RW2, Olympus ORF, Pentax PEF, Samsung SRW and Adobe DNG — including iPhone ProRAW, which is DNG. Detection uses the actual file bytes, so renamed files work too.
Is my RAW file uploaded anywhere?
No. The hand-off to the editor happens through your browser’s private storage on your own machine, and LibRaw runs locally as WebAssembly. Nothing about the process touches a server.
Does developing change my original RAW file?
Never — RAW support is strictly read-only. The developer produces a new image in the editor; your .cr2/.nef/.arw file on disk stays byte-for-byte untouched.
How is the RAW developed — can I control white balance or exposure?
The developer applies the camera’s white balance and standard demosaicing (AHD) into sRGB — what the photographer saw on the camera display. Fine-tuning like exposure, curves or filters happens afterwards with the editor’s adjustment layers before you export the JPG.
